After Care Advise

  • Avoid drinking alcohol or caffeine where possible as introducing toxins will dehydrate the skin, making it look dull and feel dry.
  • Drink plenty of water (up to 2 litres a day) and herbal/green tea which will greatly improve the skin complexion and help the body to get rid of toxins giving you a healthy glow.
  • It is recommended that you do not apply make up for up to 12 hours after a facial treatment. This allows plenty of time for the skin to fully absorb the beautiful products used in your treatment and it allows the skin time to breathe.
  • Stay away from direct sunlight, sunbed treatments and saunas for at least 48 hours after facial. The top layer of dead skin cells will have been removed, therefore making your skin particularly sensitive to sunlight.
  • Protect your skin every day from UV light to prevent skin damage and premature ageing.
  • Do not undertake any other facial skincare treatment with 48 hours of treatment
  • Do not apply perfume or perfumed products to facial treatment area for at least 48 hours
  • Use products recommended by your therapist. It is beneficial to cleanse, tone and moisturise your skin twice daily and to exfoliate twice a week
  • For long term results, use the recommended products and book in for monthly treatments

  • Drink plenty of water and herbal/green teas to help speed up the removal of toxins from the body
  • Avoid coffee, tea and cola as they contain caffeine which is a stimulant, therefore you will be unable to relax
  • Avoid heavy meals after a treatment as the process of digesting food will divert energy away from the healing process. Light meals such as fruit and vegetable make ideal snacks
  • Do not bath/shower for 24 hours to allow thorough penetration of essential oils. Many essential oils take up to one hour to absorb through the skin. Leave oil in hair after an Indian Head Massage so that it can penetrate in to hair and scalp
  • Do not use sunbeds or expose your skin to direct sunlight
  • Please make sure that you rest and relax after a treatment to ensure the body is able to heal itself sufficiently.
  • Wait for at least ten minutes after your treatment before driving home, especially if you feel sleepy. Some essential oils provide a sedative and/or relaxant quality eg. Chamomile and Clary Sage
  • Allow your body to gently and naturally become more alert before leaving the treatment room
  • Try to exfoliate the skin twice a week to slough off dead skin cells. Apply cream/oil afterwards to keep your skin looking healthy
  • Use some helpful relaxation techniques – healthy breathing, meditation, relaxation excercises and visualisation. Please ask Sarah for advice.

Please note that occasionally a contra-action (reaction) may happen during or after a treatment, this is called a healing crisis.

  • May experience aching or soreness in muscles; this is caused by the release of toxins
  • Tiredness can also be due to release of toxins. The body will need to rest to enable healing energies to carry out its work effectively. After tiredness has disappeared, client should feel refreshed and full of energy
  • A heightened emotional state may be felt. You may feel a little emotional, maybe even tearful after a treatment. It is a good way for you to release tension and will quickly pass
